The recommended feed area for GC3020 is .004 up to .016 in/tooth. GC3020 performs very well within a wide cutting speed range, from 230 SFM up to and into the area where normally the use of ceramic edge materials is considered, 1300 SFM. The normal speed range is 650 SFM. When conditions permit, GC3020 should be used with high cutting data, offering excellent productivity. The tool life is still better than what is often the norm for conventional carbides. GC3020 can be used for most types of cast iron, by advantage the grey. However, white cast iron is an exception. The reliable performance and well-balanced wear configuration of GC3020 is particularly beneficial in production where tool changes take place after certain intervals, e.g. on transfer lines.
